Younique Baby

Younique Baby hopes that every woman has a birth experience that is positive for them.  But there's no right or one way to give birth as long as it feels good to you - and you were involved in the choices and decisions that were made.  As birth doulas, we will be with you through the journey of pregnancy and through your labour.  Between us, we have supported: induced labour, assisted deliveries, caesareans, VBACs, waterbirths, multiple births and homebirths, IVF pregnancies, single mothers, mothers with a higher BMI, older mothers, first, second and more than third time mothers.

Sally-Anne offers shared care with Jenna Rutherford.  Victoria works on her own in Sussex.

Our birth packages comprise of:

2 visits antenatally - to talk through the kind of birth you hope for, debrief other birth experiences and explore possible concerns or fears about labour, give information about birth preferences and explore how your labour might 'look' like for you, check your hospital bag if you are having a hospital birth, refer you on to other specialist practitioners, as well as discuss practicalities at home in preparation for your new arrival.   We can also include preparing for breastfeeding and a postnatal preparation session to cover the first week looking after your baby.

If you are having a homebirth we will: help you prepare your home and check you have everything you would like or need.

We will be on call from 38 weeks of your pregnancy, until you have your baby.  We will be both you and your partner's companion, supporting you both through labour, remind you of the questions you might want to ask the health professionals and help protect the space to enable you to focus on your birth experience without distraction wherever possible.  We will be available when your labour begins until feeding is established - and you feel reassured and settled with your new baby.

We will visit you postnatally at home to talk through the birth, and any other areas you would like to discuss concerning your baby.

Prices range from £750 - £1200 depending on requirements.  Doula UK vouchers accepted.

I am often asked what a 'doula' is,  so maybe think of me as a knowledgeable companion during your pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond - a listening ear, an extra pair of hands, a sounding board to explore ideas, a source of information and someone to make sure you and your family are ok.

Whether your birth went as you hoped or didn't, we don't want you to feel high and dry once your baby is born.  Younique Baby's experienced postnatal practitioners provide a wide ranging level of parent-centred support for you and your family.  As postnatal doulas, we can offer you emotional support: talk through your birth story, be a listening ear to any concerns or worries you may have, enable the bonding process between you and your baby and protect your family's 'babymoon'.  If you are feeling down or isolated, we can talk things through with you.  Younique Baby has cared for: premature babies, multiple babies, babies with feeding problems and reflux, breastfeeding babies, infant milk feeding babies, single mothers, babies with older siblings, babies from varied cultures.

On a practical level we can: look after your baby so you and your partner can have a rest/bath/some 'me' or 'us' time, look after older children, go shopping/run errands, tidy up/load washing machine/dishwasher/light cleaning, cook healthy and nutritious meals - whatever makes you feel like life is on the track you want.

We can also give you information about feeding/sleeping/baby rhythms and development from up to date and accurate research sources as well as observational experience.   We are happy to talk through product options eg types of nappies, baby slings etc and signpost you to helpful organisations/groups for further support/activities.   For the full list of topics we cover, please contact us.

We differ from maternity nurses in that in addition to caring for your baby, we care for and support you and your partner.  We are also flexible in supplying sessions needed - from one 3 hour session to weeks and months of support - tailored to your requirements and budget.

We also offer postnatal courses for parents in London or Sussex, either at a local venue or within your home.  Victoria can offer one off workshops on introducing solid foods, baby sleep or toddler behaviour.

All our services include ongoing telephone, text and email support.

Doula UK vouchers accepted.  Prices range from £20-25ph.
